ROXAS City – Over 400 fruit-bearing tree seedlings were distributed to mall-goers during the three-day “Community Plant Tree” of the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO) here.
The office gave seedlings to anyone willing to part with their empty plastic bottles.
The activity aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
It encouraged the public to plant more trees and avoid plastic wastes for a more resilient and ecologically-sustainable Capiz.
The “Community Plant Tree” ran from July 29 to 31.
Among the fruit-bearing tree seedlings distributed were batwan, kamagong, jackfruit, cacao, chico, calamansi, coconut, and marang.
The CaPENRO, meanwhile, collected over five sacks of empty plastic bottles./PN
