CAPIZ – The 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) reported successful operations and community programs from January to June this year, with a strong focus on its campaign against illegal firearms.
In an interview, Police Captain Dandy Delfin, deputy force commander of the 2nd Capiz PMFC, said that six loose firearms were voluntarily surrendered by residents through intensified police-community engagement and intelligence operations.
Delfin also reported that two members of the communist terrorist group (CTG) from the municipalities of Tapaz and Mambusao voluntarily surrendered to authorities. The former rebels, he said, cited disillusionment over false promises and the failed direction of their movement.
Additionally, a female member of a sectoral support group reportedly withdrew her support and revealed she had been providing food supplies to the CTG’s Igabon Platoon.
In a joint law enforcement operation, the 2nd Capiz PMFC apprehended 10 individuals with outstanding warrants of arrest. The operation, conducted in coordination with other government agencies, also involved the execution of three search warrants. These led to the filing of charges against two suspects for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and the Explosives Law.
Delfin noted that the 2nd PMFC is now independently conducting operations such as serving search warrants — tasks that were previously handled mainly by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and other police units.
Beyond law enforcement, the unit continues to implement community outreach programs. Among its notable initiatives is Project Angga, which offers free circumcision, haircuts, and a monthly feeding program for children.
Next month, the unit will launch the Palabanan Project, a livelihood training and seminar to be held in Barangay Freedom, Tapaz.
