3 kilos marijuana seized in Molo drug sting

ILOILO City – Officers of the Iloilo City Police Station 4 (ICPS 4) confiscated around three kilograms of marijuana from a 16-year-old boy in a buy-bust operation in Zone 3, Barangay Compania Central, Molo district, on October 15.

Alias “Toto”, a resident of this city, was classified as a child in conflict with the law (CICL), police said.

He yielded six self-sealing transparent plastic bags containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruit toppings weighing 2.985 kilograms and one self-sealing plastic purple bag containing suspected high-grade marijuana kush weighing 15 grams, and non-drug-related items.

The said CICL is now under the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office in Balay Dalayunan, La Paz district for proper disposition.

Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6, lauded the operatives of ICPS 4 for the successful operation.

He also appealed to the public, especially parents and the youth, to remain vigilant and cooperative in the fight against illegal drugs.

“The involvement of a minor in this case is truly concerning and reminds us of the need for greater guidance and awareness among our youth. I urge parents to be actively involved in guiding their children and protecting them from the influence of illegal drugs. To our youth, your future is far more valuable than the false promises of drug use and easy money. Choose to live clean, productive, and drug-free lives. Together, we can build a safer and drug-free Western Visayas,” Ligan emphasized./PN
