BACOLOD City – Three persons including a 17-year-old girl were nabbed after police recovered a plastic bag of suspected shabu from their possession in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental early yesterday morning.
Silay police identified the arrested suspects as 26-year-old Jonel Sarmiento and 24-year-old Gy Chua, all residents of the said place.
Cops, meanwhile, requested not to identify the teenage girl.
According to Silay City police, they were conducting a foot patrol in the area as part of the village’s fiesta celebration when they spotted the three in a dark area.
When police approached them, the group allegedly threw away a plastic bag.
Police immediately arrested the three on the spot, and they recovered the bag containing suspected shabu.
Authorities also recovered drug paraphernalia.
The two men were detained at the Silay City Police Station, facing illegal drugs charges, while the female minor was handed over to the city’s social welfare office./PN
