ILOILO – Three members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) never had absences from their regular sessions in the first quarter of this year (January to March).

They were Provincial Board members Liecel Mondejar-Seville and Demetrio Sonza of the 2nd District and Domingo Oso Jr. of the 4th District.

There were 12 regular SP sessions from January to March, data from SP secretary Atty. Raul Tiosayco Jr. showed.

Seville heads the SP committees on cooperative and other nongovernmental organizations, and social welfare, housing, senior citizens and disabled.

She is also the vice chairperson of the committee on cgriculture.

Sonza is the chairperson of the committees on ordinances, legal matters and inter-government relations, and culture, arts, history and tourism.

On the other hand, Oso chairs the committees on aquatic resources and transportation, communication and public utilities.

“We’re just doing our jobs,” said Seville. “Attending SP sessions and crafting ordinances and resolutions are our obligations.”

Among the provincial ordinances Seville introduced during the first quarter were the one that established a Solo Parents Day (every last Thursday of April) and one that institutionalized the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Iloilo.

Seville also sponsored resolutions such as the one commending provincial government college scholars that graduated summa, magna and cum laudes and the one that requested the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iloilo to monitor municipal and barangay anti-drug abuse councils.
