Labor group claims Duterte EO supports status quo on ‘endo’

MANILA – A labor group on Wednesday called out the executive order (EO) on contractualization signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, claiming it only supports the status quo.

Mayroon pa ring endo, mayroon paring contractualization, at mananatili ‘yung kasalukuyang status quo na mayroong mga agency-hired workers at mayroong mga contractualized workers dito sa ating bansa,” Alan Tanjusay said.

Tanjusay serves as spokesperson for the Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP).

Duterte said during his Labor Day speech that he signed the executive order, effectively prohibiting illegal contracting or subcontracting labor practices in the Philippines.

Tanjusay said what the labor sector wants is for Duterte to issue an order that all employees be hired directly by companies to prevent contracting or subcontracting.

(GMA News)
