3 ‘pushers’ fall in Sagay drug op

BACOLOD City – Three men landed in jail after they were caught in a drug buy-bust operation in Purok Gumamela, Barangay Vito, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

They were the 34-year-old William Urbano, 32-year-old Raffy Nicor and 38-year-old Randy Melgar – all residents of the village – police said.

Officers from the Sagay City police station arrested them at around 2 p.m. on Jan. 4.

Senior Police Officer 1 Ronnie Sanico went as an undercover officer who bought a sachet of shabu from the suspects for P500.

Aside from the buy-bust item, seven sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P3,000 were recovered from the suspects.

Cash amounting to P330 believed to be proceeds from illegal drug transactions and drug paraphernalia were seized from them, too.

When frisked, Urbano also yielded nine cartridges of a .40-caliber gun, police said.

The three suspects were detained in the lockup cell of the Sagay City police station.

They were facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Urbano also faces charges for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
