ILOILO – A three-year-old girl lost her life after being trapped inside their burning home during a fire that hit three houses in Barangay Cabubugan, Guimbal town, on Wednesday, March 11.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Guimbal, the blaze broke out at around 1 p.m. Two houses were totally destroyed while one sustained partial damage.
Punong Barangay Jeffrey Bade confirmed in a GMA Super Radyo Iloilo report the death of the child. He said the girl was unable to escape the second floor of their house as the fire spread rapidly.
He added that at the time of the incident, the victim’s mother was reportedly away from the house.
Authorities said the neighbors attempted to rescue the victim, but the intensity of the fire on the upper floor prevented them from reaching her.
BFP-Guimbal was still investigating the cause of the blaze as of press time. However, several residents reported hearing a loud explosion before the fire erupted.
Meanwhile, fire officers pegged the damage at over P2 million./PN
