BACOLOD City — Some 3,000 qualified beneficiaries in Bacolod City are set to receive financial assistance under the national government’s Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food and Transport Assistance (UPLIFT) Program during a three-day payout that started Monday, August 10.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office–Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR), in partnership with the Bacolod City Government, began the distribution at the grounds beside the SMX Convention Center Bacolod.
At least 1,000 beneficiaries received the assistance on the first day, with the payout scheduled to continue until August 12.
Under the UPLIFT Program, each qualified beneficiary will receive P2,000 in financial assistance covering the period from July to December 2026.
The DSWD-NIR said the assistance is intended to provide additional financial support to beneficiaries as they meet their daily household needs and cope with financial challenges.
DSWD-NIR personnel, in coordination with the Bacolod City Government, are assisting beneficiaries throughout the verification and payout process to ensure an orderly and efficient distribution.
Beneficiaries are also being guided on the necessary requirements, procedures and schedules for the release of the assistance.
The DSWD-NIR said its partnership with the Bacolod City Government highlights the importance of coordinated efforts in delivering social protection programs and ensuring that assistance reaches qualified beneficiaries in an organized and timely manner.
“Through the UPLIFT Program, DSWD-NIR continues to strengthen its commitment to responsive social protection and to supporting individuals and families in meeting their immediate needs and improving their overall well-being,” the agency said.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Government reminded senior citizens who have yet to claim their rice assistance to get it at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Senior citizens aged 65 and above who are not covered by social pensions are entitled to 10 kilograms of rice assistance.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said the city has posted lists of unclaimed rice assistance in various barangays and urged beneficiaries to claim their allocation by Wednesday, August 12.
“We will give them until Wednesday, August 12, to claim their rice assistance so we can start the second round of rice distribution,” Gasataya said.
Bacolod has at least 50,000 senior citizen beneficiaries, of whom nearly 30,000 have already claimed the rice assistance, according to the city government./PN
