BACOLOD City — Thirty fighting cocks valued at an estimated P750,000 were stolen from a game farm in Barangay Mailum, Bago City, Negros Occidental, police said.
The owner, identified only by the alias “Robert,” 55, married and a resident of Bago City, reported the theft at the Bago City Police Station at around 5:30 p.m. on August 10, 2026.
According to the police report, the game fowls were discovered missing from the RGBT Game Farm in Purok Bonifacio at around 6 a.m. on August 8.
The fighting cocks, aged six to eight months, were reportedly intended as seed fowls, with each bird valued at approximately P25,000. They reportedly bore either Local Green Wing or National Yellow Wing band identifiers.
Initial investigation showed that the theft may have occurred at around 12:30 a.m. on August 8.
A nearby resident, identified only by the alias “Delia,” reportedly saw three unidentified men cutting the cords securing the fighting cocks and taking them from the farm after she heard dogs barking.
Delia, whose house is about 10 meters from the game farm, also reportedly saw two other individuals near the perimeter fence who appeared to be acting as lookouts.
Police said the witness did not call for help because she was afraid. Her husband, identified by the alias “Bayani,” was reportedly asleep and intoxicated at the time.
Investigators found that the suspects allegedly gained entry by cutting through the secondary barbed-wire fence and the primary net fence before fleeing toward a nearby sugarcane plantation with the stolen game fowls.
The suspects remain unidentified.
Bago police are conducting follow-up investigation and intelligence-gathering operations to identify and locate those responsible, recover the stolen fighting cocks, and file appropriate charges./PN
