ILOILO City — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has reinforced its ranks with 319 new police officers, a manpower boost expected to strengthen operational readiness and help fill vacancies left by personnel who have departed the service.
Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, PRO-6 director, administered the oath of office to the new patrolmen and patrolwomen on September 16 at Camp Gen. Martin Teofil B. Delgado in Iloilo City.
Of the 319 new police officers, 275 are patrolmen and 44 are patrolwomen.
Tuaño said the new officers include 225 recruited under the attrition quota and 94 under regular recruitment.
The attrition recruitment program is intended to replenish police ranks by filling vacancies resulting from retirement, resignation, death or dismissal of personnel.
“The new personnel would help ensure and sustain strong manpower and enhance operational readiness,” Tuaño said.
The PRO-6 chief congratulated the successful applicants and reminded them that taking their oath marked more than simply joining the police organization.
He emphasized that it signified a lifelong commitment to serve and protect the public with integrity and discipline while respecting human rights.
Philippine National Police chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., meanwhile, said in a virtual message that the entry of the rookie police officers would strengthen the PNP’s personnel complement and contribute to efforts to build a more professional and responsive police force.
“The PNP is continuously recruiting and upgrading our organization. Congratulations to our new patrolmen and patrolwomen, and to your proud families. The road ahead will be challenging, but it will also be meaningful. Stand firm, serve faithfully, and always remember to serve and protect is not just our mission but, it is our promise to the nation,” Nartatez said.
