ILOILO City – At least 333 jobseekers have moved a step closer to securing employment after passing initial recruitment screenings during a government-sponsored job fair in Iloilo City, while 22 others landed jobs on the spot.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 reported that more than 1,000 applicants flocked to its “Trabaho Agad” Job Fair at Robinsons Place Iloilo on October 10, 2026, seeking opportunities in local and overseas employment.

The 333 applicants who qualified during the recruitment drive will undergo final interviews and further assessments by prospective employers, raising prospects for additional hiring beyond the 22 confirmed placements.

The immediate hires, comprising 11 men and 11 women, were primarily recruited by manpower service providers and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies for customer service representative positions.

The job fair, organized by DOLE-6 in partnership with Robinsons Iloilo, brought together employers offering thousands of vacancies across various industries.

DOLE-6 director Atty. Sixto “Popoy” Rodriguez Jr. encouraged jobseekers, particularly fresh graduates, to take advantage of government-sponsored recruitment activities that provide direct access to potential employers.

“Events like the Trabaho Agad Job Fair bridge the gap between jobseekers and prospective employers, facilitating real-time placement and turning career aspirations into tangible livelihoods,” said Rodriguez.

Among the local employment opportunities offered were positions in BPO, hospitality, retail, manufacturing, logistics, information technology, finance and food services.

Available positions included customer service representatives, sales managers, investment specialists, hotel nurses, room attendants, IT technicians, delivery riders, electricians, audit associates, human resource assistants, bookkeepers and food handlers.

For applicants seeking employment abroad, participating recruitment agencies offered opportunities for staff nurses, assistant teachers, factory machine operators, pet groomers, domestic cooks, baristas, chefs and housekeeping personnel.

The recruitment activity, held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Robinsons Place Iloilo along Ledesma Street, formed part of DOLE’s continuing efforts to connect unemployed Filipinos with prospective employers and facilitate job placements.

While only 22 applicants secured immediate employment, the considerably larger number of candidates who passed preliminary screenings indicated the potential for more placements once employers complete their recruitment procedures.

The final number of additional hires will depend on the results of subsequent interviews and assessments./PN
