CAPIZ – A total of 38 police commissioned officers (PCOs) of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) underwent a surprise drug test at Camp Teodorico C. Apil in Barangay Lanot, Roxas City, on June 30.
The unannounced testing was conducted to reinforce ethical standards, including integrity, discipline, and accountability among police officers who are expected to serve as role models in the campaign against illegal drugs.
According to Police Captain Merry Chris Dela Cruz, CPPO’s information officer, the group included 18 PCOs from the provincial headquarters, 17 police chiefs from coordinating stations, two mobile force commanders, and one platoon leader.
The initiative was spearheaded by CPPO director Colonel Albert D. Tapulao. Officers were initially called to what was announced as an “emergency meeting,” only to learn it was actually a random drug testing.
Dela Cruz emphasized that the move aims to promote professionalism across all ranks, reiterating that accountability must be upheld regardless of position or seniority.
The results of the drug tests have not yet been publicly disclosed as of press time.
Earlier on June 27, 50 senior officers of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), including regional director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, were subjected to a surprise drug test as part of an intensified internal cleansing campaign./PN
