ILOILO City — A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four minors, including her boyfriend, in Molo district.
The victim, identified as alias “Nene,” reported that she was inside a nipa hut on April 15 with her 14-year-old boyfriend when the incident occurred. According to her statement, three friends of her boyfriend arrived and allegedly took turns raping her.
The victim further claimed that she tried to resist the assault but was overpowered by the four suspects.
Following the incident, the complainant immediately sought assistance from barangay officials, leading to the prompt arrest of the four minors by local police. A medical examination later confirmed that the victim had been raped.
Formal rape charges have been filed with the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspects, who are currently being held at the Balay Dalayunan, a youth detention facility for children in conflict with the law in the city.
In light of the incident, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director Colonel Wilbert Parilla issued an appeal to parents and guardians to be more vigilant in supervising their children.
“To the parents, please monitor the activities of your children to avoid child abuse and prevent incidents like this from happening,” Parilla said./PN
