CAPIZ —A 22-year-old man was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by Roxas City police on the afternoon of April 17 along Calipayan Street in Barangay Punta Tabuc.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “JB,” is a resident of Barangay Lanot. Authorities withheld his full identity pending further investigation.

Seized during the operation were six sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 14 grams, with an estimated street value of P95,000.

Police also recovered a Remington .45-caliber pistol with two live rounds of ammunition from the suspect, along with P10,000 in marked money used in the operation.

Authorities said the suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The operation coincided with the Capiztahan 2026 celebration, held from April 13 to 19, which drew large crowds to various events across the city.

Police said security measures and surveillance were intensified during the festival to prevent criminal activities and ensure public safety.

Authorities also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as part of the continuing campaign against illegal drugs and firearms.

Police thanked the community for its cooperation and assured residents of sustained efforts to maintain peace and order during and beyond the festivities./PN
