4-year-old boy dies in accidental marble gun shooting

CAPIZ — A four-year-old kindergarten pupil died after being accidentally shot in the head with a homemade firearm, or marble gun, inside their house in Sitio Kabalantian, Barangay Agloloway, Jamindan town.

According to an investigation by the Jamindan Municipal Police Station, alias “Jeff’s” parents left him under the care of his 10-year-old sibling on Friday afternoon, July 31, while they traveled to Camp Macario Peralta in the town’s Barangay Jaena Norte.

While playing inside the house, the two siblings noticed their father’s marble gun hanging from the ceiling. They retrieved the weapon to play with it, unaware that it was loaded.

During their play, the firearm accidentally went off, hitting the victim on the left side of his head.

Relatives rushed the injured child to the Camp Peralta Station Hospital but he was later transferred to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City for further medical treatment. However, attending physicians declared him dead on arrival at around 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 1.

As of this writing, the Jamindan police were still investigating the incident./PN
