ICPO arrests 501 drug personalities, seizes P91.5-M worth of ‘shabu’ in seven months

ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) arrested 501 drug personalities and seized an estimated P91.5 million worth of suspected shabu in anti-illegal drug operations conducted from January to July this year.

Records from the ICPO showed that the city’s 10 police stations, together with the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), conducted 399 anti-drug operations during the seven-month period.

The operations resulted in the confiscation of 13.4 kilograms of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P91.5 million.

Of the 501 arrested, 330 were identified as street-level individuals, 141 were classified as high-value individuals (HVIs), while the rest were arrested through the service of warrants or were newly identified drug personalities.

ICPO director Col. Wilbert Parilla attributed the accomplishments to the sustained efforts of police personnel and the cooperation of the community in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Parilla said the ICPO will continue to intensify its anti-drug operations regardless of the status or position of those involved.

“Wala tayong pinipili. Kahit sino ang lumalabag sa batas ay huhulihin natin,” Parilla said.

The police official also appealed to the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting illegal drug activities and providing information that could help authorities apprehend drug offenders.

Editor’s note: The original headline stated P1.5 million, but the body of the report consistently cites P91.5 million worth of shabu seized. The headline has been corrected to reflect the figures in the article./PN
