41 farmers receive land titles in Negros

BACOLOD City – Around 41 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) received certificates of land ownership award under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

The ARBs will share about 23 hectares of landholdings in Barangay Aranda, Hinigaran formerly owned by Fernando Feria, stated on a Department of Agrarian Reform’s (DAR) report.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Lydia Garingo said the government will continue to assist the farmers through various support services.

Garingo urged the farmer-beneficiaries to protect and defend their rights over the land and refrain from engaging in illegal activities, particularly in the “arriendo” system or leasing of land

“There is no reason for ARBs to engage in arriendo system since the DAR has buckets of support services for them,” she added.

Under the land reform program, the DAR has been providing support including, credit assistance, farm machineries, and free agrarian legal advice and consultation to farmers who have land problems. (With a report from PNA/PN)
