GUIMARAS – The vaccination of minors here against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has started.
On Tuesday, 423 children from 12 to 17 years old received their first dose.
The vaccination was conducted at the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Memorial High School in Barangay Constancia, San Lorenzo town.
The Provincial Health Office oversaw the vaccination in coordination with the Municipal Health Office of San Lorenzo.
The minors were assessed prior to vaccination. Their vital signs and medical history were checked.
They were also monitored after their vaccination. So far, no adverse events were reported.
Gov. Samuel Gumarin urged parents to have their qualified children registered with their Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams or Rural Health Units for the vaccination.
As of Nov. 22, 44,126 individuals in Guimaras became fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or 33.72 percent of the 130,908 target population./PN
