CAPIZ – The provincial government has started giving healthcare workers here booster shots of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The vaccination kicked off yesterday at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH).
Dr. Ernestine Urquiola and Dr. Ma. Consolacion Botin were the first to be inoculated.
The rollout was spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office in partnership with the Department of Health and the 17 local government units in Capiz.
Based on the latest Department of Health guidelines, healthcare workers who have completed their primary series, six months after getting the second dose can be inoculated regardless of which vaccines taken in the first two doses.
The COVID-19 vaccines being used in the country are Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Gamaleya Sputniks, and Janssen.
Health secretary Francisco Duque said this would be continuous and simultaneous with the ramping up of first and second-dose vaccination for children and the general population./PN
