BACOLOD City – Forty-seven police officers in Negros Island Region are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the drug trade.
The cases of 40 are still being validated by the Police Regional Office 18.
“Later they will be submitted to Camp Crame (Philippine National Police main headquarters) for another validation process,” said Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, regional police spokesperson.
Camp Crame is already conducting further validation on seven other Negros officers.
The names of the seven are being withheld, but Catedral said they include two police commissioned officers — a chief inspector and a senior inspector — and five police noncommissioned officers.
Once their involvement in drugs is verified, “our regional director will endorse them to Camp Crame for reassignment to other regional offices,” said Catedral.
The Police Regional Office 18 is headed by Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban.
In October seven Negros police officers were already relieved for their alleged involvement in the drug trade. They were:
* Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, chief of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) Police-Community Relations Division
* Superintendent Rosauro Francisco, Nocppo deputy director for operations
* Superintendent Jacob Crisostomo, chief of police, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental
* Chief Inspector Joemarie Occeño, station officer-in-charge, Valladolid, Negros Occidental
* Chief Inspector Rico Santotome, PRO-18
* Superintendent Leonardo Angcon, PRO 18
* Superintendent Lino Dalisay, chief, Nocppo Investigation Division
Camp Crame transferred them to regional police offices in Mindanao and Northern Luzon./PN
