BACOLOD City – Forty-eight individuals were arrested for illegal cockfighting across Negros Occidental on All Saints’ Day.
Consolidated report from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office showed that five were arrested in Kabankalan City; one in Cauayan; four in Himamaylan City; 13 in Bago City; nine in Hinigaran; seven in Sipalay City; four in Sagay City; two in Moises Padilla; and three in Manapla.
Two of the arrested persons were beneficiaries of the emergency cash assistance under the government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
The suspects were detained and charged with violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974./PN
