Still with immaculate records of five straight wins are FMs Stanislav Babarykin and Ilia Lipilin of Russia, and Harlen Jose Otero Munatelo of Venezuela, who respectively defeated their erstwhile co-leaders Leonel Amato of Argentina, Aleksander Choroszej of Poland, and Mohammed Aayan Ismail of England.
Top seed GM Marcin Tazbir of Poland leads a six-man group half-a-point behind the leaders with 4½ points apiece.
Meanwhile, Filipinos IM Sander Severino, Jasper Rom and Darry Bernardo are in the next score group of 23 4-pointers, a full point behind the leaders. Severino survived a determined Dmitrij Danilchenko of Russia and escaped with a draw after 77 moves of a Catalan Opening. Rom deftly clobbered Cuba’s Mario Pallerols Duran in 43 moves of a Slav Exchange, while Bernardo bombed Ecuador’s Esteban Jacome in 50 moves of a King’s Indian Attack.
