ILOILO – Five Ilonggos are representing the Philippines in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics Youth Experience and International Project Talks.

They were invited by the Wonju City and Gangwon-do Saemaul Undong Center in the Republic of Korea.

The project talks opened on Feb. 7 and will end today.

The Philippine delegation is composed of Saemaul Filipino Youth Volunteers from Lemery, Iloilo: Kennie Aposaga, Christopher Geaga, Antonio Apelacio Jr., Jeanne Michaella Anthonette Nanquil, and August Melody Andong, the team leader and Philippine Saemaul International Development Project coordinator.

The delegation is scheduled to attend various activities of the Winter Olympics and various Saemaul project site visits and international youth development exchanges.

The activities include a welcome ceremony in the Wonju City Government and courtesy call to the Wonju City Officials, PyeongChang Winter Olympic opening events, ski experience and viewing of the ski jumping event, Samcheok and Gangneung Olympic Town visit, international youth project talks and exchanges, field visit to the recycling project site of Nami Island, “Walking the Korean History and Culture”, and the lecture-seminar of the Saemaul Undong at the Korea Saemaul Undong Training Center.

This rare opportunity to attend the Youth Experience and International Project Talks of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics is part of the international development cooperation project of the Wonju-si Saemaul Male Leaders Association and Gangwon-do Saemaul Undong Center for the ongoing Saemaul Pilot Project of New Villageship for Sustainable Development in Barangay Poblacion South East Zone, Lemery, Iloilo.
