GUIMARAS – Six tribes will vie for the Manggahan Festival 2024’s street dance competition this afternoon.
These are:
* Pasundayag School of Arts
* Hubon Sibiran
* LGU-San Lorenzo
* Manugbulante (Municipality of Jordan)
* Federation of Accredited Youth Organization of Buenavista
* Serum “Ati” Community
Today, May 22, is the highlight of the Manggahan Festival, coinciding with Guimaras’ celebration of its provincehood anniversary.
Vice Gov. John Edward Gando told Panay News that this is the first time the provincial government headed by Gov. Joaquin Carlos “JC” Rahman Nava is holding such competition.
In previous years, he said, the street dance was incorporated with the cultural show competition.
“Na-observe nga madugay nga matapos ang cultural show bangod nga kinahanglan pa nga mag-street dance ang each participating tribe. Gani nag-decision nga i-separate ang street dance competition sa cultural show competition,” the vice governor added.
The cultural show competition was earlier held on May 19. Hubon Balsahan of Sibunag town emerged once again as champions.
Today’s street dance competition, meanwhile, will start at the Jordan Food Terminal Market (JFTM) going to the main event area at the provincial capitol grounds.
A mass dance of all competing groups will take place thereafter./PN
