BACOLOD City – It doesn’t end.
Seven more Negros Island Region police officers linked to illegal drugs were removed from their posts.
Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, regional police director, sought their axing after a validation conducted by the national police headquarters, said Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, Police Regional Office 18 (PRO-18) information officer.
Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, Philippine National Police chief, approved the sacking of the following:
* Senior Inspector Gideon Montaño, chief, Bacolod City Police Office’s (BCPO) Police Station 1
* Chief Inspector Jose Mulleta, National Police Commission – Negros Island Region
* Police Officer 3 Dennis Ywayan, BCPO
* Police Officer 2 Ferdimark Peñaroyo, BCPO Police Station 3
* Police Officer 2 Jett Baloya, BCPO
* Police Officer 2 Jeffrey Toquero, BCPO Police Station 8, and
* Police Officer 2 Amor Firmeza, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo).
Their relief took effect on Nov. 16. They were reassigned to the Police Regional Office – Cordillera.
Inspector Stephen Boniba, deputy Police Station 1 chief, will take over as officer-in-charge.
Gumban requested from Camp Crame six more officers — a police commissioned officer and five police noncommissioned officers — to fill in the remaining vacant posts, Catedral told Panay News.
Seven Negros police officers were relieved on Oct. 26 over similar allegations.
Transferred to regional police offices in Mindanao and Northern Luzon were:
* Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, chief of the Nocppo Police-Community Relations Division
* Superintendent Rosauro Francisco, Nocppo deputy director for operations
* Superintendent Jacob Crisostomo, chief of police, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental
* Chief Inspector Joemarie Occeño, station officer-in-charge, Valladolid, Negros Occidental
* Chief Inspector Rico Santotome, PRO-18
* Superintendent Leonardo Angcon, PRO 18
* Superintendent Lino Dalisay, chief, Nocppo Investigation Division
Gumban may request more officers from Camp Crame, Catedral said.
Being a new office, the PRO-18 lacks sufficient personnel, and the “continuous internal cleansing” in view of the antidrug campaign may lead to more reassignments, said the information officer.
A lot of Negros Island Region police officers are occupying two positions, she said.
Around 40 more police officers allegedly involved in drugs are currently under validation at the regional level.
“May mga dumadagdag pa because some (drug) yielders are giving more information regarding police involvement in the drug trade,” Catedral disclosed./PN
