759 Capiz seasonal workers get emergency employment

ROXAS City – Some 759 seasonal workers in Capiz will be provided job opportunities through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program, or the Emergency Employment Program (EEP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Of the total beneficiaries, 485 seasonal workers are from the five barangays of Mambusao town, 222 from three barangays of Maayon and 112 workers are also from three barangays of Panitan town.

Information officer Mary Chris Medina of DOLE Capiz said a total of P2,770,350 in check were already released to the concerned beneficiary barangays before the program implementation starts.

“Each seasonal worker beneficiary is entitled to 10 days emergency employment at P365 wage per day or a total of P3,650 wage for the work duration,” Medina said.

She said TUPAD beneficiaries will work on the clearing and declogging of canals, creeks, and riverbanks, and rehabilitation of farm-to-market road.

In Mambusao town, each of the identified barangays, namely Pangpang Sur, Pangpang Norte, Maralag, Balit and Bula, has P310,250 budget for 85 seasonal workers.

Maayon town’s three barangays, namely Fernandez, Poblacion Ilawod and Palaguian, each has P270,100 for its 74 seasonal worker-beneficiaries. (PIA/PN)
