77 senatorial candidates in midterm polls – Comelec

Election Day is slated on May 13. PRIMER

MANILA – Seventy-seven aspirants were listed as official candidates for the senatorial post in the 2019 midterm elections slated on May 13, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said while the aspirants were already deemed as official senatorial candidates, some names can still be removed due to pending finality.

Among the senatorial bets were Vangie Abejo, Abner Afuang, Freddie Aguilar, Albert Alba, Shariff Albani, Rodolfo Alejano, Richard Alfajora, Rafael Alunan, Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Ernesto Ansula, Benigno “Bam” Aquino, Gerald Arcega, Ernesto Arellano, Marcelio Aria, Hussayin Arpa, Bernard Austria, Balde Baldevarona, Nancy Binay, and Ramon Bong Revilla Jr.

Also running for senate were Jesus Caceres, Toti Casiño, Pia Cayetano, Melchor Chavez, Glenn Chong, Neri Colmenares, Rizalito David, Angelo De Alban, Leody Guzman, Ronald Dela Rosa, Chel Diokno  and JV Ejercito, Estrada.

Also included in the list are Alexander Encarnacion, Juan Ponce Enrile, Agnes Escudero, Jinggoy Estrada, Elmer Francisco, Charlie Gaddi, Larry Gadon, Ding Generoso, Geremy Geroy, Christopher Go, Junbert Guigayuma, Samira Gutoc, Pilo Hilbay, William Iliw Iliw, Jangao William; Bfg Abraham; Rj Javellana, Josefa Javelona, Lito Lapid, Romy Macalintal, Emily Mallillin, Faizal Mangondato, Dong Mangudadatu, Jiggy Manicad, Imee Marcos, Norman Marquez, Jose Matula, Luther Meniano, and Allan Montaño.

Other senatorial bets are Joan Nalliw, Frank Naval, Eric Negapatan, Willie Ong, Serge Osmeña, Dado Padilla, Koko Pimentel, Grace Poe, Dan Roleda, Harry Roque, Mar Roxas, Lady Ann Sahidulla, Lorenzo Tañada, Francis Tolentino, Butch Valdes and Cynthia Villar, Cynthia.

Some of the senatorial aspirants have pending certificates of finality namely Albert Alba, Ernesto Ansula, Hussayin Arpa, Rizalito David, Angelo De Alban, Alexande Encarnacion, Geremy Geroy, William Iliw Iliw, Josefe Javelona, Norman Marquez, Rolando Merano, Naval Rolando; and Eric Negapatan.

Jimenez said some 134 groups composed the list of organizations which have been allowed to join the forthcoming polls for party-list./PN
