ILOILO City – Eight persons were caught for 20 grams of shabu in Zone 1, Barangay Barrio Obrero, Lapuz district.

The following were taken to the detention facility of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 in Fort San Pedro on Thursday:

* Jonel Marquez

* Pete Cuenca

* Robert Doromal

* Rommel Yee

* Diego Peñaverde

* Alfredo Velez

* Cresel Mar Hermosena, and

* Rodelio Tusing.

Marquez owned the house where all the suspects were caught around 5:30 p.m. during a buy-but operation.

According to PDEA assistant director Levi Ortiz, Marquez sold a sachet of shabu to an agency operative while the other suspects appeared to be snorting shabu in the house.

The 20 grams of shabu recovered had a street value of P180,000, said Ortiz.

“We have long been monitoring Marquez’s movements. An asset said his house was being used as a drug den,” he added.

The suspects face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
