ROXAS City – Eight fishers from Panay, Capiz have been arrested for violating the town’s anti-illegal fishing ordinance.
The following have been fined after they were caught on July 3:
* Conrado Bernas, owner of FB-Dods CJ
* Alfon Villanueva, owner of FB Andrea
* Jose Bengaora, Jason Bengaora and Rendel Villanueva, crew members of FB Dondon
* Crispen Cabulacan, owner of FB Angie
* Junior Devino, owner of FB Elmer Joy
* Joseph Urda, owner of FB Junman
“Nagmulta ini sila, depende sa ila nga violation,” Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Ramie Detaro told Panay News.
“Ang nadakpan nga nagagamit sang fishing gear, may penalidad nga P2,500 ang kada crew,” Detaro said. “May ara man nadakpan kita nga indi rehistrado nga miyembro sang fisherfolk sa banwa, nga may kapareho man nga penalidad.”
Their fishing gears were confiscated and later released upon their payment of the fines.
Officers from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office and the Panay police station caught the fishers.
“Dapat gamiton nila sa insakto ang ila mga kagamitan sa pagpangisda, indi nga gamiton ini para ilegal nga makapangisda,” Detaro said./PN
