BACOLOD City – Eight sabungeros, or cockfighting enthusiasts, ended up in this city’s Police Station 4 for allegedly participating in an illegal cock derby.
Nabbed were Ludwen Tolentino, 21, a resident of Bago City, Negros Occidental; Enrique Cabalida, 58; Rustom Alquiza, 40; Christopher Alvarez, 32; Anthony De Leon, 42; Judy Concepcion, 42; Rodolfo Banal, 50; and Val Parca, 39, all residents of this capital city.
The police operatives arrested the suspects at around 11:10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, in Barangay Villamonte.
Six fighting cocks and P1,700 in bet money were recovered.
The suspects face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974./PN
