BACOLOD City – The city government here will restrict the entry of individuals in the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) on election day, May 12.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Session Hall at the BCGC will be the venue for the canvassing of votes for this city while the City Treasurer’s Office is where the ballot boxes will be kept.
“Only authorized persons are allowed to enter the building,” said Jose Antonio Robello, deputy officer-in-charge of the Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department (BTTMD).
The BTTMD, meanwhile, was tasked by the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Bacolod City to manage the roads especially in areas where polling centers are located and at the BCGC where the election paraphernalia will be transported after voting hours.
Robello assured they will not implement road closures along the areas going to the BCGC on Monday.
Data from the Comelec-Bacolod City showed that the city has 355,880 registered voters.
Malacañang on Tuesday declared May 12 as a special non-working holiday throughout the country for the 2025 national and local elections.
The Comelec recently urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to declare May 12 as a holiday to allow registered voters to cast their ballots./PN
