80% WV cops vaxxed

ILOILO City – A total of 10,925 or 80.79 percent of police personnel of the Police Regional office 6 (PRO-6) have been vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Latest data from the PRO-6 showed 6,594 completed their recommended doses while 4,331 were waiting to get their second dose.

According to then PRO-6 spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Joem Malong, the remaining 2,598 personnel who have not yet been vaccinated were mostly assigned at the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

The PRO-6 is hoping that by September, all policemen would be able to get the vaccines. The PRO-6 now has an ongoing vaccination. The Department of Health (DOH) delivered free anti-coronavirus jabs recently.

“We are thankful that the DOH sent us 8,000 doses of vaccines for our police. Need gid ‘na sang aton mga mga pulis kay frontliners nga daan sila kag damo aton pulis nga na-infect,” she said.

Since the start of the pandemic, 1,236 police personnel contracted COVID-19 – 144 were active (as of Aug. 19), 1,088 recovered and four died.

“Our personnel are very careful, but still many have been infected because we are dealing many people every day especially in our checkpoints and border points,” Malong added./PN
