SAN JOSE, Antique – Municipal government officials from Iloilo province were nominated in the 2017 Gawad Parangal of the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines, Inc. (ALSWDOPI).
Mayor Serafin S. Villa Jr. of Badiangan was nominated for Outstanding Local Chief Executive, while Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO) Imelda Lopez of Lambunao, for Outstanding Local Social Welfare and Development Officer.
They were the only two nominees from Visayas, said ALSWDOPI executive vice president Lazaro G. Petinglay.
The search committee for Visayas evaluated the nominees on Thursday last week.
Members of the search committee are Janet Alonday, MSWDO of Balasan, Iloilo, as chairwoman; Agnes Solania, MSWDO of Talisay, Cebu, as regional convener; and Dr. Neneth Pador and Petinglay, provincial SWDOs of Antique.
The awarding will be held on April 26 during the ALSWDOPI National Convention at SMX Convention Center in Davao City.
For the annual Gawad Parangal, the ALSWDOPI creates a screening committee that looks into the meritorious activities and programs of the nominees as reflected in their practical and fiscal management in social welfare.
The committee also checks on the remarkable contribution of the nominees in agriculture, health, infrastructure, and treasury. (PNA)
