ILOILO City – A barangay chairman in La Paz district was accused of mauling and pistol-whipping his house help.
Ian Gonzales of Siquijor told the police Loboc village chief Jojo Javellana attacked him around 8 p.m. on Wednesday when he asked for his salary.
Gonzales intended to leave the Javellana household. This may have pissed the barangay chairman, police said.
He sustained hematoma on the forehead and bruises. To avoid further injury, he ran and went to the police station.
Javellana cannot be reached for comment as of this writing.
Senior Inspector Rey Sumagaysay, district police chief, said Gonzales has yet to decide whether or not to press charges against Javellana.
“I talked to the victim, and he seemed uninterested in filing a case, but I’m still waiting for his final decision,” said Sumagaysay./PN
