P544K ‘shabu,’ firearm seized in Passi City drug sting

ILOILO — Police arrested a high-value drug target and confiscated around P544,000 worth of suspected shabu along with an illegal firearm during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bagacay, Passi City, Iloilo on Tuesday evening, August 25.

The operation, executed around 6:10 p.m. by personnel of the Passi City Component Police Station (CPS), led to the arrest of alias “Rino,” 42, and recovery of 11 plastic sachets containing 80 grams of suspected shabu.

Also seized was a homemade, single-shot break-type caliber .45 pistol loaded with two rounds of ammunition.

Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Colonel Bayani M. Razalan lauded the Passi City police for the successful bust, highlighting the vital role of community collaboration in curbing drug activities.

“Our operations will remain strong and focused through the steadfast support and cooperation of local government units, the community, and other law enforcement agencies,” Razalan said.

The suspect was detained at the Passi City CPS. He faces charges for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act)./PN
