BACOLOD City – A security guard was killed while 11 other people were injured after glass sheets piled on a 10-wheeler truck came crashing down on them in Barangay Mansilingan on Wednesday.
The victims were helping owner Ibrahim Gallego move the glass sheets from a container van at Bangga Adela, police said.
Senior Police Officer 2 Leo Anthony Genita, Police Station 7 investigator, identified the fatality as Victor Lasañas, 44, of Barangay Granada.
Two of the injuries were taken to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center: Cris Amalla, 25, of Sipalay City, Negros Occidental and Herman Gallego, 75, of Barangay 39.
Others were rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital:
* Alfredo Adam, 26; Rolando Esparas, 29; Arjie Gigabene, 34, all residents of Murcia, Negros Occidental
* Fernando Pisalbo Jr., 18; Raymark Beroa, 18; Ronnie Domdomaya, 56; Reynold Beroa, 17, all residents of Barangay Vista Alegre
* Eugene Angeles, 20; and Daniel Angeles, 16, both of Sipalay City
They sustained injuries on various parts of the body. They have all been discharged, police said.
