ILOILO City – Police officers absent without legitimate reason will be slapped with an administrative charge for grave neglect of duty, according to the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6.
Napolcom was conducting an annual management audit of the Police Regional Office 6 from May 10 to 17.
Two officers were already charged: Superintendent Christopher Acop of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Police Officer 3 Bonifacio Gepiala.
They failed to present their service firearms to the inspectors, according to Napolcom Region 6 spokesperson Allen Camering.
While some have “legitimate reasons,” like attending court hearings or being on sick leave, others were simply not present during the audit, where officers were required to present their service firearms, Camering told Panay News.
Napolcom will give the absent police officers until May 17.
Otherwise, “basta absent [ang police officers] kag indi sila maka-presentar sang armas nila, may specific instruction sa amon si Director Martin Palomar nga magapasaka kaso against sa [ila],” said Camering.
Three Napolcom Region 6 teams were conducting inspections.
The annual management audit aims to check if officers comply with issuances, including resolutions and memorandum circulars, from Napolcom, Philippine National Police and Civil Service Commission, Camering said./PN
