ILOILO City – A resident of Sitio Matawhay, Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro district was repeatedly stabbed.
Gary Juridico, 37, sustained stab wounds on the head and right shoulder. He was taken to the Iloilo Mission Hospital, also in Jaro.
His attacker — 22-year-old Danrhoe Engada of the same village — was arrested and detained at the Jaro police station.
Both were drinking liquor around 11 p.m. on May 18 when they had a misunderstanding, police said. Engada went home only to return a few minutes later already wielding a knife.
Barangay tanods (village watchmen) led by Rommel Evangelio accosted Engada and turned him over to the police.
Around 30 minutes later, another stabbing incident occurred in Barangay Tagbac.
Remil Deraper, 32, of Barangay Lucmayan, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras and a certain “Albert,” 30, of Barangay Peña, Buenavista, also in Guimaras, were outside the waiting area of JRD Transportation on MacArthur Drive when they had a misunderstanding, police said.
Albert left but returned a few minutes later with three unidentified men on board a maroon Suzuki motorcycle (plate number 6220 FB).
The four men attacked Deraper. Albert then grabbed a knife and stabbed Deraper on the waist several times, said the police.
The attackers fled on board the motorcycle while Deraper was taken to the St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo for treatment.
After a pursuit, police officers found the motorcycle but not the suspects./PN
