BACOLOD City – A vehicular accident along the highway in Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occidental turned fatal for a truck driver.
Rogelio Dejar, 67, of Hacienda Angelina in Murcia town sustained injuries on the body.
He was taken to the Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival,” police said.
His Mitsubishi truck was negotiating the highway around 5:30 a.m. on May 20 when a suspected mentally ill person walked in the middle of the road, investigation showed.
Dejar tried to avoid it by swerving to the left. That was when his truck crashed against an incoming Isuzu truck driven by Alejandro Balasabas Jr., 51, of Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City.
Balasabas and his son, 11-year-old Alejandro III, were injured./PN
