ILOILO City – Suspected drug dealer Albert Ladrido has an interesting modus.
He would get into a grocery store and place the drugs into a cart, where his client could pick up the item and place the payment, police said.
But police officers busted this modus during a buy-bust operation in a grocery store in Barangay El 98, Jaro district.
Ladrido, a 21-year-old third-year criminology student at St. Therese MTC Colleges in La Paz, was arrested and detained at the Jaro police station.
Officers transacted with Ladrido for more than two weeks until they convinced the latter to sell them a half gram of shabu worth P3,100, said Senior Inspector Tranquilino Querubin, Jaro police chief.
According to Querubin, Ladrido told the undercover officer that he was in a grocery store. A sachet of shabu was inside the cart he was pushing, and the buyer should place the payment inside the cart.
“That’s his modus operandi to avoid arrest,” Querubin told Panay News.
Police said Ladrido, a resident of Barangay San Carlos, Anilao, Iloilo, confessed that he had to sell drugs to support his live-in partner and their four-month-old child.
While he disclosed that he was getting his drug supply from Barangay Desamparados, Jaro, he refused to name his source, police said.
“We’ve been tailing him since last year but he was too elusive,” Querubin said. “Sometimes he stays in Anilao, other times in La Paz.”
Police staged the operation around 6 p.m. on July 3.
