BACOLOD City – A building inspection of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) was suggested after the ceiling at its back entrance fell on July 11.
Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella authored a resolution requesting the City Engineer’s Office, Office of the Building Official and the General Services Office to inspect the damage and facilitate its repair.
The incident caused damage to the headlight of a private car.
A P1.5-million budget was allocated for the repainting of the roof and P600,000 for the maintenance of the interior ceiling in 2016, Engineer Amy Tencia of the Office of the Building Administrator said.
Tencia said no repair and maintenance work was done during Monico Puentevella’s term as city mayor.
Claudio Jesus, Monico’s son, said BCGC needs repair since it has roof leaks, wall cracks, dislodged tiles, and a clogged drainage system.
BCGC houses both the local executive and legislative branches and is the center of Bacolod City’s metropolitan area./PN
