ILOILO City – For alleged illegal possession of firearm, a resident of Barangay Aspera, Sara, Iloilo was detained yesterday.
A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was seized from Jonathan Erestingcol at a checkpoint in Barangay San Antonio, Sara.
Erestingcol, 48, may be slapped with charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
He was taken to the Sara police station after his arrest around 4 a.m.
Republic Act 10591 regulates the “ownership, possession, carrying, manufacture, dealing in and importation of firearms, ammunition, or parts thereof.”
It outlaws the possession of “loose” – unregistered, altered, lost/stolen, or illegally manufactured – firearms./PN
