SAN JOSE, Antique – The military must be strengthened.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Joselito Pio Sumande said this after President Rodrigo Duterte delivered his second State of the Nation Address on Monday.

Sumande prefers a unilateral ceasefire among insurgents in Marawi City. “Peace begets peace,” he said.

But the Provincial Board member also supports Duterte’s plan to continue strengthening the military.

“It’s high time that we upgrade our military because of external and internal threats,” Sumande said on Tuesday.

The aerial, land and sea capabilities of the country’s Armed Forces must be boosted by new technology, he added. (PNA)
