KALIBO, Aklan – Rape charges will be filed against two men accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old female relative in an eastern town in Aklan.
The suspects – aged 55 and 60 years old – admitted to the crime.
Police arrested them on July 24. They were drunk at the time.
On July 26, police recommended the filing of charges against the suspects at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in this capital town.
Police said the sexual assault happened on July 23 – but it was not the first time.
The minor claimed that she was also abused last year.
A medical report from the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital confirmed the girl was raped, police said.
On July 23, the Grade 2 pupil cried profusely as she narrated her ordeal to her uncle.
She said the suspects threatened to hurt her if she tells anyone about what they did to her.
The uncle sought help from the barangay captain and the police.
The suspects sexually molested the girl when her grandmother left her with them when the latter went to catch fish at a swamp on Sunday morning, police investigation showed.
When her mother died and her father remarried, the girl was left in the care of her grandmother, it was known.
The suspects were their relatives living a few meters from their house. One of them works in a government housing project and a resident of an adjacent town. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
