BACOLOD City – About 5,000 elementary students in Valencia, Negros Oriental received school supplies from the Energy Development Corp. (EDC).
The school supply distribution is a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program called HELEn, or Health, Education, Livelihood, Environment, among others.
Norreen Bautista, head of EDC’s community partnerships, external relations and watershed management team, led the distribution along with the volunteers and EDC’s new scholars.
“It is priceless to see the smiles of the children,” Bautista said.
EDC’s HELEn ranked 6th among best CSR practices of companies in Asia.
EDC has been operating its 222.5-Megawatt Southern Negros Geothermal Project in Valencia for 35 years./PN
