BACOLOD City – More drug surrenderees have undergone screening and profiling for a rehabilitation program.
This new batch comprises 4,000 junkies, according to Superintendent Levy Pangue, chief of the Tokhang Team of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Those who will qualify will undergo an eight-week community-based drug rehabilitation facilitated by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council committee on rehabilitation, Pangue said.
Sixty-five from the first batch completed the rehabilitation program on May 30.
They have volunteered to help in the rehabilitation of the second batch, Pangue said. “They will serve as role models.”
Pangue said the rehabilitation program will serve only those who are “moderately affected” by illegal drugs.
The city government cannot yet accommodate the “seriously affected” for lack of a rehabilitation center, he explained.
Reformists shall undergo an aftercare phase facilitated by the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).
Under this phase, reformists are provided with livelihood and soft-skill development trainings, DSSD officer Sally Abelarde said./PN
