BACOLOD City – A film about martial arts is being shot in several areas in Negros Occidental.
“Tapado,” an action/drama movie written and directed by Vincent Soberano, had its first day of shooting at the old sugar mill in Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City.
Aside from Bago City, Soberano said they will shoot at the Lakawon Island Beach Resort and Spa in Cadiz City, the Chinese Temple in this city, restaurants, bars, and iconic places across the province.
“I’ve always wanted to return to Bacolod. The film is about the martial arts tapado. It originated here and was founded by Nono Mamar in the 1960s,” Soberano said.
Soberano was born in Barangay Singcang-Airport and migrated to the United States in 2010 after their house was destroyed by fire.
“Even if the resources here are limited, we are trying our best to make [the film] happen,” Soberano said.
Soberano directed the award-wining films “Blood Hunters” and “On the Brink Uncharted Water.”
Produced by Indiego Pictures Entertainment, “Tapado” will be 120 minutes and set to be shown nationwide next year. It stars Monsour del Rosario, Christian Vasquez, Ian Ignacio, and Rhian Ramos./PN
