ILOILO City – An armed man who identified himself as a police officer threatened them, two motorcycle riders told the police.
Marvin Rafael, 32, of Barangay Dulonan, Arevalo district and Reygan Baltazar, 26, of Barangay Jarden, Dumangas, Iloilo said the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 1.
On board a motorcycle, they were traversing Ledesma Street, City Proper when a man driving another motorcycle, with a woman as back rider, overtook them.
He pulled over on corner Ledesma-Valeria streets and shouted at them, “Maano ka? Ano problema niyo?” (What do you want? What’s your problem?)
Rafael and Baltazar said they just ignored him. But Baltazar noticed that the man followed them and that he was holding a firearm.
Rafael, who was driving, sped toward Rizal Street. When they reached the University of Iloilo, they heard the armed man shout, “Dulog, pulis ni, puta!” (Stop, it’s the police, you bitch!)
They ignored the armed man. They headed to Mapa Street and then heard a gunshot.
They drove all the way to Police Station 1 to report their ordeal. Officers promised an investigation./PN
