ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) is forming a team to track down fugitives and criminal groups.
According to Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, IPPO director, the tracker team will be manned by at least 10 experienced police personnel.
“This is a crime-prevention measure,” he stressed.
Tayaba also said IPPO will be reviewing its list of wanted persons but he confirmed that suspected drug lord Richard Prevendido is included in the list.
“We need to coordinate with the barangay officials and communities y who know better the people around them. They have a big role in our campaign against wanted persons and criminal gangs,” said Tayaba.
Despite the combined P1-million reward that the city and provincial governments of Iloilo is offering to whoever could give information leading to the successful arrest of Prevendido, the drug suspect remains at large.
“Prevendido is the regional police’s top priority, too. It’s better if we can get him,” said Tayaba.
General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Philippine National Police director, ordered the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) to arrest Prevendido at all costs.
During his Iloilo visit on June 23, however, Dela Rosa did not give the regional police office a deadline.
The previous PRO-6 director, Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, gave his men until Dec. 31, 2016 to arrest Prevendido but they all failed.
Dela Rosa instructed the PRO-6 to coordinate with the community to get more information on the fugitive.
Prevendido was last spotted in Sitio Solong, Barangay San Juan, Sibalom, Antique last month. He disguised himself as an Ati, said Sibalom acting police chief, Inspector Clark Philip Dinco./PN
